Here we have a recent horror movie poster for the terrifying movie, Chernobyl Diaries. The first thing that caught my attention with this poster was the title. It is such a unique title that I was instantly curious to find out what it was about. The cloudy environment and radioactive sign portrayed in this photo emits a dark emotion maybe about mutant horror. This mutant horror plot is very rare so people are instantly attracted to the movie. The city depicted in the photo is based on a real city that pretty much exploded after a radioactive meltdown killing alot of residents. This is intriguing because the poster is based off real events, they just choose to expand on these events to make a good quality horror film. This darkly shaded poster also lets the viewer know it will be a dark creepy film. After looking at some poster and pics of this film I instantly rented this movie and was not let down. It doesnt fail to deliver what it portrays and thats the best part about this photo. A good photograph leading to a great fun horror film is a prime example of yet another successful production in the horror industry.

For this I decided to comment on a youtube video about one of my favorite cartoons, South Park. This show is amazing and accurately depicts America with its degrading self loving people. This video in particular shows how obese people take advantage of their situations to get themselves scooters to get around. It shows how peoples dumbness is very contagious and how people will conform to other peoples stupidness.

For this activity i chose to poke fun at the classical horror plot of ZOMBIES. Yes they are scary and gross, but zombies never seemed to be the smartest horror creatures, in fact alot of zombie movies show that zombies do have alot of weaknesses. For example in the movie I am Legend, the zombies do not like light and will sleep during the day. In other movies the zombies walk extremely slow but somehow the victim always gets caught and eaten alive. In this photo I have recreated, my main motive was to show how silly the zombies look walking after a guy who is just standing there scared about to let them eat him. As this photo is a parody on zombie classics, it doesn't fail to accurately portray the sometimes cheesy death scenes of stubborn victims. For me personally being in a zombie apocalypse world I would just run away as fast as possible and find a deserted area. It just seems the typical surviving gang surrounded by zombies doesn't scare the audience as much today.

The Grudge emotion
ok guys! first off... This picture creeps me out and makes me remember the whole scary movie. in this you can see and feel the fear that the girl is expressing. she is filled with sheer terror and when i saw this when it came out in 2004, this is what made me fear the dark. The story of the movie is that in Japan, the husband of his family who was having an affair goes crazy and murders his family and commits suicide leaving behind a dark evil spirit that kills anyone who enters the house.the girl on the left had entered the house and brought the wrath of the dark spirit to her and now she is being taken. This scene brings about a strong emotion of fear that will pierce even the strongest of people. some aspects of this terror and fear are the way the grudge's hands are wrapped around her victim's face and the grudge is in the middle of her shriek. the pale almost grey skin, the black hair streaked across her face and only showing one eye are a few extra examples of the qualities that amplify the fear that the grudge possesses.

This photo I decided to examine emotionally is from the terrifying movie, Halloween. In this photo, Michael Myers(guy standing on the right) is a deranged kid who grew up to become a serial killer. Looking at this photo really gives me goose bumps. I get a real creeped out emotion noticing that Michaels figure is covered in the shadow and the kid is more in the light really displaying the difference in personalities. Another aspect of this photo that is scary is the size difference, because Myers looks like a 10 foot freak compared to the poor innocent boy. I remember in the movie the boy stated, "hey mister are you a giant?". Michael is also wearing very dark clothing and has a hoodie on to hide his face of evil. One last aspect of this photo that involves the whole movie is that its Halloween night and that just adds that much more terror.

Researching Horror
Blogger Sites
http://thehorrormoviesblog.com

-This site called bloody-disgusting and it provides great intel on the most gory movies of all time. Its main focus are films such as "Cold Fish" and "Inside" that are so violent they cant be in theaters so they just went straight to DVD. But man those are some gnarly trailers. It also provides comic book strips and music from horror movies. You can get a glimpse at different music throughout the years and see old time horror clips and present day trailers.

Academic Sources
http://www.timetoast.com/timelines/history-of-horror-films
-This academic source is something very important I would like to eventually discuss in this blog. This site provides a timeline from 1900 to present day with major horror classics and thrillers. This is interesting because I want to explore how horror movies have changed from the early 1900s to 2012.
http://web.li.gatech.edu/~rdrury/600/write/sp2_03/horror/element.html
-This is a very intriguing site about horror elements and what you can find in films. It explores the typical element of horror you find in movies such as a fierce creature, supernatural, or murderers. By reading this site I have found that murderers are people favorite type of movie because it keeps them on the edge of there seat the whole time. I found this site very helpful in breaking down the main ideas of Horror films.
http://www.britishhorrorfilms.co.uk
-British horror films is something that interested me as soon as I read the title. I never thought to explore foreign horror films. This site shows clips and films from Britain showing their type of scary movies. I like this website because it gives you a alphabetical order of scary movie genres that you can explore. I would like to see if anybody has seen any foreign horror films and how they compare to US films, although I am more than certain US films kick butt and no other nation can compare.

Analyzing Freddy vs Jason
Hey guys Slasher here again!!! im here to review one of my absolutely most favorite movies of all time. FREDDy VS JASON!! BUM BUM BUM!!! my buddy Gore is in favor of Freddy but we all know that in the end Jason is the victor.
Getting to the point, I chose to review this movie simply because it combines two of the most infamous horror psycho killers in history. In this thrilling horror flick, Freddy Krueger the infamous villain from Nightmare on Elm Street, uses fears to kill people in their dreams in the small town of Springwood, Ohio. Freddy however has started to become weak since the people of Springwood have been starting to suppress their fears of him. To solve this problem and regain his reign of terror and fear, he travels to the depths of hell disguised as the mother of Jason Voorhees, the unstoppable killing machine of camp crystal lake, and tells Jason that he must raise from hell to slaughter the teens of Springwood. Jason starts stealing away Freddy's kills and it leads to a face off between the two in an epic showdown both in reality and in Freddy's twisted dream world.
I love how this movie depicts two almost Immortal beings battling against each other and it shows how in a battle between two matched opponents, both will fall only for the one who gave that last push to rise again in victory. symbolism plays a big role in this movie being that Freddy was portrayed as the leader resurrecting Jason as his pawn yet he had no idea how much power Jason possessed and in the end lost control and ultimately fell. This movie also shows a battle between mind and matter. Freddy battling through mind while Jason fights through a physical mean. Yet in this case mind could not overcome matter when out of its element.

This movie that I choose to review is one of my favorite classic remakes of the decade, Nightmare on Elm Street. This movie takes place on a street called Elm Street haunted by probably one of the scariest villains, Freddy Kruger. Freddy was once a innocent man accused of taking photos of nude boys and was chased into a farm house and burned alive. In this film there are a few characters living on Elm street and unfortunately they become Freddy's victims. They way he kills is waiting until a person falls asleep and he sneaks into their dreams and taunts them then kills them. This idea personally scares the crap out of me because everybody needs to sleep eventually and you can't escape it.
I think this movie is best portrayed through symbolism. One symbol you notice in this film is Freddy's burn marks all over his body. These portray the way he died when he once was a man and it is a reminder to the people who murdered him for no reason. Another symbol you see are the knifes attached to his hand that really give off a scary gory feeling. One major factor of this movie that is very ironic are the dreams. Usually when one tends to dream nothing bad can ever actually happen to them, but in this film when Freddy kills you in your dream, you die for real. I believe the purpose of this film is to scare the living poop out of you. It is meant to make you afraid to fall asleep in fear that you will come face to face with Freddy. Freddy's motto for killing is to put everybody through the pain he went through when he was burned alive, and it really makes an impact on the audience.

FRIDAY THE 13TH
Hey guys Slasher here! you may have seen this pic before in my last post but now I'm here to explain it. In this scene from Friday the 13th, pretty much my favorite horror series, the perspective is in a third person point of view from behind the girl. she is obviously looking at Jason because of how the light is the brightest around him yet since he is still dark, it makes him stand out and be the 1st thing to catch your eye. the colors used in the scene do not give off a happy feeling but instead an ominous and definitely creepy feeling in the dense forest. there is however light that does show through the clearing almost as if it were being used as a spotlight to give emphasis that Jason Vorhees is in the clearing and has been keeping a menacing glare at the girl in the water.
The angle of this scene presents another detail. The angle is almost to the side which makes it look as if the meeting of the two is like a standoff. except in this case, Jason is without fear and just his presence gives off the uncomfortable feeling as though he has already won in his mind and that the fact that he is calm but menacing at the same time. The girl however sees Jason and is in complete shock and terror that she has even had to run into him and especially at such a vulnerable time since she is skinny dipping in the lake.
There is no way another slasher film can replace the feeling that Friday the 13th gives me when I watch the movies. The way Jason can remain so calm and stealthy and catch up to his fleeing opponents with nothing more than a walking pace is just great. There is nothing more terrifying than having believed to have escaped from your assailant only for him to be one step ahead of you the whole time and only realize it once it is too late. This is why Friday the 13th is a film that will never cease to amaze me and have me checking all of the dark places i see before I decide to let my guard down.

SAW
Gore here again with a fun gory pic from one of my favorite horror series, SAW. In this photo you can certainly feel a sense of nausea and disgust, but I seem to get a kick out of it. This right here is probably my favorite trap out of all of the SAW movies. It consist of a women chained and suspended in mid air. Attached to her ribs if you were wondering are hooks connected to each of her ribs, pretty raunchy. The goal of this game right here was for her to reach into a vile of pure liquid acid where a key laid at the bottom(Key to her survival). Anticipating the worst pain of her life she attempted to grab the key only to fail the first few times do to excruciating pain. Although the pain was to much to handle she was willing to do anything for her life which establishes jigsaws whole point of the game. She finally grabs the key and attempts to unlock herself from this devastating contraption, BUT, theres a twist. At this point she has the key in the lock but it does nothing to free her, which is why this is my favorite trap of the movie. When the one thing to save your life fails, a feeling of helplessness and despair fills your veins. This is why SAW is my favorite franchise because the movie makes you feel what the victims feel, and what a great rush that is. The final section of this picture shows the trap going off ripping her ribs out from her body, probably the worst and most painful way to die. This picture really exemplifies the grizzly gore this movie portrays. Saw has really taken a turn from typical horror movies today and in the past by really exaggerating the gore and stress of each scene, forcing you to be at the edge of your seat throughout the film. If you are faint at heart and get nauseous easily I do not recommend this film. Remember, if you suddenly wake up in a dark room and feel trapped in some sort of device, do not move and come to the realization that you are screwed.

Hello fellow horror lovers, you can call me GORE. I am currently a freshman at CSUN and in the process of majoring in criminology. I am also an athlete competing on the CSUN baseball team and hope to further my career in professional baseball or get into the criminal justice business. Growing up my parents never seized to show me gruesome horror classics and I never seemed to get enough of it. I can recall falling in love with such films as Nightmare on Elm Street, The Exorcist, and my favorite, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Still to this day I really enjoy seeing new and improved gore filled productions. Iv come to notice big differences in the style of horror films today from past classics and would love to get your opinions on this topic. I look forward to discussing horror films with you guys! Peace!
